Mt. Adams

Beautiful painting in backdrop of the dining room which overlooks Saint Gregory St.
As the first flurries of winter flew down into the Cincinnati skyline, I ventured into Teak Thai Cuisine and Sushi Bar for a warm and spicy business lunch. Our Filipino waitress gave us a few minutes to look over the simple menu. I had a little trouble understanding her accent but the routine at Teak is not hard to manage once you learn the rundown: stir fry with rice or stir fry with noodles. Then pick a meat, vegetables, sauce and level of spiciness.
I went with the egg drop soup to heat up the blood flow and level four spicy flair with the chicken and ginger stir fry. Not much lag time between ordering and having the food brought to the table so for those with a hungry stomach this is a great place. The egg drop soup… just like it sounds. And what I mean by that is when you bring the spoon to your mouth the soup has that literal gooey egg consistency. Interesting… I prefer my eggs over easy not soupy but could work for others.

Egg Drop Soup Chicken and ginger stir fry
The chicken stir fry with ginger hit the spot. Especially in this time of the precarious cold and flu season, I felt the properties of ginger could help boost the immune system. Potent sauteed ginger straws along with fresh veggies and chicken. Good stuff. Across the table, my friend enjoyed her staple at Teak: green beans with tofu. Tofu – either you hate it, love it or just don’t understand it. But in this case the dish looked delectable.

Of course I would be remiss without mentioning that there is sushi on the menu but having not ordered it I will leave those reviews to the next restaurant goer.

Lunch goers enjoying the corner experience for a private meeting

After the quick lunch we stopped by next door to see the renovations on the new Teak Sake Lounge. It is open for business but they are still working to have it up and running full force. Stop by soon and check out this laid back establishment in the heart of Mt. Adams.
