*This post is short but sweet (pun intended)

what looks to be a sugary fountain of caramel goodness

Cincinnati ballet dancers

As trick or treating fast approaches, it’s hard to forget the feeling we had as a kid when just a simple ring of a doorbell would be the “golden ticket” to Candy Land. With this in mind, last week’s Sugar Rush benefitting the Cincinnati Ballet went to great lengths to create a feeling of sweet tooth bliss that would make any Oompa Loompa proud.

Various sweeteries from all over the city, including Graeter’s, The Bonbonerie, The Sweetest Thing, Cake Rack Bakery and Taste of Belgium (to name a few) were on hand to send your sweet tooth back to the dentist for a good cleaning. A chocolate fountain, various ice creams, cookies, cupcakes, pastries and candy-tinis were among the many samples offered to candy-goers while the cobbleria took the prize as the fan favorite of the evening.

Eye-candy was also provided by members of the Cincinnati Ballet performing throughout the evening to distract the senses from the array of guilty pleasures that decorated each table. Add to that a Flashbox photo-booth and an endless supply of Vitamin Water and your trip to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory is complete.

If anyone can make this an annual pre-Halloween event, I’ll quote Sammy Davis Jr. and say that “The Candy Man can.”
